6/24 Annual Washington Square Association Meeting

We invite you to join us at the annual Washington Square Association Meeting, where members of our community meet, discuss the park and get access to wonderful talks on the park and it's surrounding community.

This year we have a very special speaker Dr. Mary Schmidt-Campbell who will discuss "The Role of Culture in the Village and NYU."   Certainly a hotly-debated topic, as NYU has had a huge influence in our community and supports the park in many ways.

Dr. Campbell has served more than two decades at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.  Her distinguished career included work in curator leadership of the Studio Museum in Harlem and services as NYC's Commissioner of Cultural Affairs.  Dr. Campbell was appointed by President Barack Obama as Vice Chair of the President's Committee of the Arts and Humanities.    Needless to say, Dr. Campbell's long list of accomplishments require more coverage than we can write here.

Please join us at the King Juan Carlos Center on 53 Washington Square South between 5pm and 7pm.  Dr. Campbell's talk begins at 6.

As always, we thank you for you involvement in the Washington Square Association's events that include the Christmas Tree Lighting and the Washington Square Music Festival, which also has a concert Tuesday night at 8pm in the park.   We will be going afterwards to listen together to Vocal Music from Baroque to Modern.
